Just use Chrome on your smartphone and set YouTube to thr desktop Version. Looks horrible, but now you have background play for free.

Irregular opinion here. I play music on stereos via bluetooth of my phone and youtube premium has been good for that. Spotify or some such could work too, but I don't like their business model that favours big artists at expense of smaller ones. Now Youtube likely doesn't pay any artists at all, but at least I get a wide array to listen without interruptions or auto-pause after few songs.

Just instal Ublock origin (google extension) if you use the computer and no ads. I don’t use YouTube on my phone that much so I deal with it.
